Musoni, a young company from Amsterdam founded in 2013, aims to improve the quality and availability of financial services in the developing world. The Musoni System is an award-winning, cloud-based microfinance system that is licensed to organisations across Africa, helping them reduce their costs and expand their outreach into rural areas, where the majority of the unbanked live. Musoni is known for pioneering new technology in microfinance including mobile money (over 3 million mobile money transfer transactions processed), SMS reminders (over 2.5 million SMS messages sent) and tablet apps (over 50,000 loans processed digitally). They have recently launched a client facing mobile app, improving transparency for low-income clients, and they also use credit scoring to help organisations make sensible lending decisions. Musoni now supports over 50 organisations across Africa, and have proven the impact that their software has on reducing arrears, growing client numbers and increasing revenue for microfinance organisations. Most recently for example, an independent study into the Musoni tablet application found that it increased loan officer efficiency by 68% and revenue by $86,816 in the first year alone.
